Chamaecereus silvestrii
Common Name: Peanut Cactus

Chamaecereus silvestrii, affectionately known as the Peanut Cactus, is a charming and fast-growing clumper that forms dense mats of finger-like stems, each about the size and shape of a peanut. These bright green stems are soft-spined and slightly ribbed, making this cactus both touchable and totally adorable.

Native to the high altitudes of Argentina, it’s known for its spectacular, bright orange-red blooms that appear in spring and early summer—often in profusion when grown in strong light. It’s an ideal choice for hanging baskets, dish gardens, or anywhere you want a cascade of color and texture.

☀ Light Requirements
Prefers bright, indirect light to filtered sun. Can tolerate full morning sun but protect from intense midday rays, especially in summer.

💧 Watering Needs
Water thoroughly only when the soil is fully dry. More frequent watering during the growing season (spring and summer); reduce in winter when the plant goes semi-dormant.

🌡 Temperature Tolerance
Hardy to about 20–25°F if kept dry. For colder zones or winter orders, we recommend including a [Heat Pack] to ensure safe delivery.

✨ Special Features
Unique Clumping Growth – Spreads quickly and forms attractive mounds
Vibrant Orange Blooms – Showy and plentiful with proper care
Perfect for Hanging Baskets – Cascades beautifully over pot edges

Other Common Names:
Peanut Cactus, Echinopsis chamaecereus, Finger Cactus

This cactus will ship bare root and will be ready to place directly in a well draining soil mix like our Custom Cactus Mix.

Photos in the listings unless otherwise specified are representative of the plant that will be sent to you.
However, Plants grow differently and each plant may vary slightly in shape, size, growth pattern, etc.
Of course, if you receive a plant that you are dissatisfied with please reach out to us. We want to make it right!

If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a Heat Pack to your order.
If temperatures where you live will be much lower than 20℉ even heat packs may not work. You may consider waiting until things warm up a bit. We know you love your plants just like we do and we wouldn't want any of them to freeze.

Not for super chewers
Color: Blue
This ball seems to be of good quality; has held a charge well and is easy to use. Sadly, the cover lasted less than 15 minutes with our dog.... not for aggressive chewers for sure. Pretty funny to watch the hound dog jowls shake though.

Great fun for dogs!
Color: Orange
Two of our dogs really love this! It caused a lot of barking and chasing and running around trying to grab it. It's really funny to use the remote to control it (and especially make it stop when things get a little too chaotic!) It feels durable even when pawed and bumped into and stepped on. The battery life seems good. I plugged it in overnight to charge so not sure how long it took to charge, but it has lasted quite a while with the dogs playing with it and still doesn't need a charge. It's easy to screw off one side of the ball to plug it in to charge. The size is a little bigger than a tennis ball I would say and has a soft texture.

It doesn't work.
Color: Blue
The two halves of the ball shell come apart again and again when the dog plays with them. When it is time to recharge the core, it will not take a charge. The dog loves it, but it's unsafe to play with.

My dogs fight over it
Color: Orange, Color: Orange
Easy to use, durable, and has a great battery love. At first my dogs were curious and unsure about it, now its become one of their favorite toys. They'll stare at it while its being charged and impatiently wait for it so they can have fun again. Perfect size for most breeds.
